Use MP3s On Your G1 As Ringtones
Since posting the short list of G1 Tips and Tricks, we have received quite a few emails asking us to post a quicky on how to use a song already stored on your T-Mobile G1 Android phone as a ringtone. This is actually a very simple process but if you ask, we shall answer.
The first thing you have to do is find a hot jam on your Droid, preferably some Jay-z or maybe Hinder, whatever you may like. Next, open Music > Song > and then press and hold your finger on the song you want to use. Now, select “Use as phone ringtone.”
BAM! Now your all ready to annoy the hell out of people with that lame tune that sticks in everyone's head like John McCains party affiliation at election time.

I was wondering if you can tell me how to set different Mp3 ringtones for different contacts exclusively?
i was hoping for the same
i was hoping for the same thing. the way they put it, only makes it your defalt ringtone. Although it helps me out in one way. THX

Ringdroid, USE IT!
I highly recommend "ringdriod" for those who don't want to use a whole song or MP3 as a ring tone but rather cut a portion of the song to use as ring tone,message tone, alert or alarm tone. Check here for a video:
