MilageLedger GPS App For The HTC T-Mobile G1 Android Phone
MileageLedger For The T-Mobile G1
With the ever increasing gas prices, I would have to say that the most annoying and one of the most important daily procedures any traveling business person is obligated to, is keeping a miles log for Uncle Sam.
Keeping mileage logs can get particularly complicated when you are switching between company and personal vehicles, and the last thing anyone wants is the IRS knocking, especially if you are not sure about something in the books.
Luckily for us Android users we have an awesome app that is available to do this irksome chore for us called
Mileage Ledger is a GPS powered mileage logging application the G1 Android phone that generates log files that meet the requirements of IRS Publication 463, Section 5 which states:
"You should keep adequate records to prove your expenses or have sufficient evidence that will support your own statement. You must generally prepare a written record for it to be considered adequate. This is because written evidence is more reliable than oral evidence alone. How ever, if you prepare a record in a computer memory device with the aid of a logging program, it is considered an adequate record."
This tiny little application can reduce your tax burden by thousands of dollars per year. Mileage Ledger takes utilizes the GPS integrated into your Android smart phone to keep track of your mileage. Mileage Ledger will suggest destinations based on your proximity to predefined destinations or you can enter the destination manually.
It is perfect independent contractors, business owners or employees who have to track their automobile mileage to take advantage of the IRS mileage reimbursement; real estate agents, graphic designers, programmers, accounts and lawyers will all receive great benefits from utilizing this time saving application.
Mileage Ledger is available as a subscription service and allow you to track your mileage through the end of the tax year. After the expiration date, Mileage Ledger will still be fully functional (you will be able to generate reports for all mileage logged during 2009) but you will no longer be able to log your miles. You will have to renew your service at that time in order to continue logging your mileage for 2010.
Mileage Ledger was designed and created by TechMethods, LLC, and is now available for download at http://mileageledger.com/ . This is one of the first apps I picked up for my G1 after I installed the Android File Manager
.
Well I'm off to find some more useful applications for us Androidians. Happy driving and stay safe.
'Till the next episode...
