How To Send and Receive a Fax On Your Cell Phone

Last week, I found my self in an sticky situation...I needed to fax a contract to my broker after it was sent to me, via email, from my partner. Now, if I was in the office this would be no big deal. I would have just printed out the email and ran over to the fax machine and been done with it.  The problem is that I had to be in Pittsburgh for a meeting in an hour, and  was on the road. The email was in my inbox on my Touch Diamond but I had no way to fax it until after I made it down to the "Burgh" and this needed to get done asap.

After I got back later that day, I though about how I had been hearing about these solutions that will let you fax via email and I started thinking to myself, "Hmmm...I wonder if I could have done that from my phone".

After some research, I found a great company called MetroFax. They offer a Fax to Email solution at a great price that works with my HTC seamlessly.

How does it work you ask...Simple. If I would have had this last week I could have simply forwarded the message on my phones email application to Melissa (my broker) by simply Composing a new email, entering the fax number, entering a subject, attaching the document and hitting send. That easy!

You can also receive faxes on your phone. They come as an email with a PDF attachment. As long as your phone has an application to view PDF documents (most HTC phones are capable), you are good to go.

The price is only $12.95/month for 1000 inbound/outbound (combined) messages and you can even get a toll free 800 number for an extra $2/month. Most of the other companies charge about $17 per month and you only get to send 30 faxes before they start tacking on fees.

Since I have MetroFax I find myself using it all of the time. I'm sure you will definitely find this solution useful and that is why I decided that MetroFax is worthy to be recommended by FreeHTC.

Now go get yourself an account and thank me for it later. metrofax.com
